Aritha van Herk is an award–winning Canadian novelist whose work has been acclaimed throughout
North America and Europe. She first rose to international literary prominence with the publication
of Judith, which received the Seal First Novel Award. Following The Tent Peg, she was honored with
a 45 Below Selection as one of the nation's most promising writers. No Fixed Address: An Amorous
Journey earned her a nomination for the Governor General's Award for Fiction and the Howard O'Hagan
Fiction Award. Her fourth novel, Places Far From Ellesmere, has been critically acclaimed and was
nominated for the Howard O'Hagan Fiction Award. Her novel, Restlessness has also
been critically acclaimed and was selected by The Globe & Mail as one of the most notable books
of 1998. Aritha van Herk is the Associate Head of Graduate Studies and a professor of English
at the University of Calgary. |
