Rick Book
Rick book, born in Central Butte, Saskatchewan, was raised on a wheat farm at Loreburn, Saskatchewan. He has been a radio and TV journalist and creates TV, radio and print campaigns. Rick Book worked for the CBC for 10 years as a TV and Radio News Reporter. Rick has worked as an advertising copywriter in big and small agencies as a writer and creative director. In addition, Rick has written award–winning documentaries, including a documentary series for TV Ontario. He's written the English version of a Japanese Imax film and is currently working on an Imax project on robots. For eight years, as a voice actor, Rick has also narrated commercials, documentaries and children's books. An active volunteer, Rick is co–founder of Friends of Attawapiskat, a resource and support group for a Cree community on James Bay. He is the author of the children's picture book The Lonely Seagull and two stories which were included in anthologies for Canadian schools and currently lives in Toronto, Ontario with his two teenagers: Christopher and Alison. Necking With Louise, his first novel, has recently won the Vicki Metcalf Award for Short Fiction for the short story "Sundogs," and has sold US and German language rights.
